  1. Blurring the line between mosh pits and tribal dances, Roots is a rush of down-tuned guitar chug, Amazonian rhythms, and industrial electronics. Mid-’90s groove metal doesn’t get any more funky or furious than “Breed Apart” and “Ratamahatta,” a riot of wildly clattering percussion with singer Max Cavalera venting volcanic anger at his government’s treatment of Brazil’s.

  3. The first Sepultura album I ever bought, and how lucky was I to grab this double CD! The second disc is much different from Roots, as it consists of older (i.e. pre-Chaos A.D.) material: an absolutely unbelievable, magnificent collection of rare, unreleased, demo and live tracks and covers. Around 70 minutes of kick-ass music.

  7. 'Roots, Bloody Roots' 'Attidude' 'Breed Apart' 'Spit' and especially 'Ratamahatta' are fantastic pieces of music. The rest of the album kicks just as hard too, which is what makes it so damn great. Either way you look at Roots, it's one of Sepultura's best and strongest albums to date, and a personal favorite.
